In June of 2019, DNA Asia (Representative Director: Naoto Fujii) and KOKORIZE Myanmar (Representative Director: Jun Nagata) merged, with the resulting entity, named once again KOKORIZE Myanmar, embarking upon a new chapter in its history. In following on from that, in May 2020, from one of DNA Asia’s investors, Mr. Masaru Nakao, the Representative Director of DNA Media K.K., was appointed to lead the revitalized business. Additionally, the capital of the newly-combined entity was increased to US$130,000, with the aim being to achieve $1 million in sales turnover within a year.
DNA Asia was established in Yangon in May of 2018 so as to create and facilitate flows of people, goods and information between Asia and Japan. It was invested in by DNA Media K.K., a leader in the creation of content; nousite, inc., a company with a track record in web development and e-Learning content; and Distance, a company based in Ho Chi Minh City, which engages in both offshore development and the management of JAPO, a Japan information website.
DNA Asia has to date operated JAPO Myanmar (https://mm.japo.world/), a Burmese language site that publishes Japan-related content within the country. Also, it has undertaken activities such as information surveys conducted among the younger segments of Yangon’s population.
In its original form, KOKORIZE Myanmar was established in Yangon in 2016 with a capital base of US$50,000. Once established, the company offered translation services to Japanese businesses operating in the country. What is more, through its Myanmar Express website (http://myanmar-express.com/), it published Myanmar related news targeted at a Japanese readership, as well as conducting Burmese language tests via its MLT website (http://www.jp.mlt-myanmar.com/).
By combining the two companies together and the areas in which they excel, the aim for the new entity is to both act as a bridge that spans Japan and Myanmar, and to deliver maximized synergies for corporate activity. By conducting sales activities in Japan, and through translation activities undertaken in Myanmar, the corporate mission of the new combined entity is to utilize human resources in both countries, and thus develop media skills and a global mindset that has previously not been witnessed among business in Myanmar.
